  • About Kobudo: Kobudo is a traditional weapons system derived from Okinawan martial arts. The AKF Athens Kobudo program presents an accessible and effective learning system focused on six primary weapons: Nunchaku, Eku, Tekko, Tonfa, Sai, and Kama. Students have access to a rank-based curriculum which can be pursued by independent learners and groups around the world.
  • Types of skill focus: Weapons training
  • This might be the art for you if: you’re intrigued by traditional martial arts weapons, you enjoy engaging your mind learning new things, or you want to gain complimentary but unique martial skills to enhance your other training.
  • Number of classes offered per week: 2 classes
  • Minimum age: 7 years, with instructor approval
  • Instructor(s): Sensei Jon Gibson, overseen by Sensei Erik Hofmeister
  • Accreditation: American Kyuki-Do Federation
  • Suggested uniform/ equipment: Lightweight gi and a set of training weapons
